Den Oever

Den Oever is part of the municipality of Wieringen, located next to the Afsluitdijk that separates the IJsselmeer from the Wadden Sea, and famous for its shrimpers.

Outward journey


Den Oever can be easily reached both by car and public transport.
By car follow the motorways A8->A7 from direction Amsterdam or the A32->A7 from direction Zwolle. (please check the map left below)

By public transport Den Oever can be reached by train from Schiphol/Amsterdam to Alkmaar and connecting fastbus service to bus station Den Oever. 

From direction Zwolle the best connection is by train to Leeuwarden and subsequently by fastbus to bus station Den Oever. From the bus station it's a 15 minutes walk to the harbour (please check the map right below).

Statistically the quay in De Oever is flooded once every twenty years. Because this happened both in 2007 and 2008 the next flood is not expected before the year 2048. Nevertheless we advise you to park your car in the village behind the dike. There's more than enough free parking space in Den Oever.
